FAQs
DO DJ BYERS PROVIDE CCTV SYSTEMS FOR RESIDENTIAL PROPERTIES?
The 'explosion' of television documentaries featuring CCTV such
as Crimewatch etc, has caused a great deal of interest in people
wishing to protect their properties. The 'entry level' systems are
now well catered for either as a DIY installation or undertaken
by local alarm installers as a lucrative side line to burglar alarms.
These systems generally involve one or two cameras providing viewing
of a driveway, entrance door or similar on the television. Selecting
a different TV channel then displays the camera for the occupant
in providing an 'adequate' view of an external area. They offer
a satisfactory performance with 'perceived' benefit in security.
D J Byers Ltd do not provide this type of system.
The increasing sophistication of intruder alarms
is dependant upon there being a rapid Police response when an alarm
condition occurs. To reduce the high volume of false alarms new
standards were introduced including the requirement for two zones
to be activated before a full alarm condition was registered. This
can often require the intruder to enter two zones (2 rooms in your
house) before activation is recognised as an alarm condition at
the Alarm Receiving Centre. At that point the Police would be informed
but by this time valuable items may have been removed and intruders
left your house.
The system offered by our Company would typically involve several
external cameras linked to an off site transmitter. Then, leaving
your house the system would be set. Any intruders attempting to
enter critical areas would activate external beams triggering an
alarm call to a Remote Video Receiving Centre. The operator would
then be able to observe the reason for the activation including
any intruders that may be on your premises. Through an included
public address system they would then issue a warning requiring
that they leave your premises or identify themselves.
A further benefit with this design of system
is that when you are in your home at night time, but the intruder
alarm has not been set, it is still possible to arm the external
CCTV system! Again, if any intruders were to activate the system
they would be observed by the operator at the RVRC who would then
initiate an audio warning possibly preventing an unwelcome break-in.
The system operates over a broadband/ADSL line reducing operating
costs and at the same time providing yourself with the benefit of
being able to 'dial into' your own system from the Office or even
another country. These systems are bespoke dependant upon the individual's
requirement.
